I used to go to Brew & Browse every Tuesday for the open mic nights and it was packed. New owner switched the playlist to all top 40 pop and raised drip coffee to $4.50 - now I counted 4 people in there at 7pm last Friday. Anyone else notice their local spot just lose all its soul after a change like that?
I go to this spot in Portland called Slow Pour pretty much every morning. A few weeks ago, the barista I always see just looked at me and said "you know you're missing half the room in those things." I had my noise-cancelling headphones on and was zoned out on a spreadsheet. She was right though. I started keeping them off until I actually need to focus. Now I end up talking to people a few times a week and even met a guy who does the same type of freelance work I do. Anyone else have a coffee shop regular call them out on something that actually helped?
Walked into a new shop in Portland and the barista said 'oat latte, one honey, right?' from a single visit half a year ago, how do you guys deal with strangers who remember way too much about you?
I hit 47 cups last month at local shops. That's like $140 on lattes alone. Started bringing a thermos from home instead. Saved $60 in the first week. Anyone else done a cost breakdown on their coffee habit?
