inJust found out how many books the average book club actually finishes
Our group actually started picking shorter books on purpose. We did a few novellas last year, like "The Pearl" by Steinbeck, and the completion rate shot up. It takes the pressure off and lets us actually talk about the whole story. Sometimes a great discussion needs everyone to have read the same ending.

inQuestion about a sauerkraut tip from a market vendor
What kind of rock did he say to use? I'd be worried about it leaching something into the brine. A smooth, clean river stone boiled first might work, but my glass weights give me peace of mind. That old way seems like an extra step to get it safe.

inI finally stopped my automatic $50 monthly charity donation
Automated giving can make charity feel like just another bill you pay. You lose that personal connection to where your money goes and why it matters. Redirecting it locally, even if it's a bit less, makes the whole act meaningful again.
