My neighbor Greg's 'fancy' bean soup recipe

Yeah, I just keep the fancy stuff separate now. Let people add their own pesto or cheese if they want it, so the base price stays low. Stops the "chef's special" tax before it even starts.

I spent $800 on a 'digital nomad visa' service that was a total scam

Check the official government immigration website first, every time. I learned that after a bad experience in Vietnam. A "consultant" there wanted a huge fee to file paperwork I could have done myself in an afternoon. For Indonesia specifically, you can apply for the B211A visa online through the official imigrasi site. It is not fast or fun, but it is real. I would not trust any middleman service unless they come with a personal recommendation from someone you actually know.

My buddy in Denver swears by shellac for everything now, but I'm not sold

Used to think shellac was just for antiques until I refinished my own kitchen table with it. That was five years ago and it still looks perfect, even with two kids and daily meals. The key is using a good wax over the top for extra protection. Now I use it on most client pieces unless they specifically need something waterproof.

Vent: Just read a report that says 40% of appliance calls are for user error, not broken parts

Honestly that trip fee logic makes sense for a service call. But doesn't it feel like companies build stuff to be confusing on purpose sometimes? Like they could make the filter easier to find if they wanted to.

I gave up on the 'just ask anything' method for my business website and switched to a structured FAQ page.

My old internet provider had their support number buried in the terms of service. I switched after that and told everyone I knew. Why make it a puzzle if you want to keep customers?
