inChanged my mind about paying for a chatter lounge membership
Totally get that. I had the same shift with a book club lounge. Free ones were just people posting links or arguing, but the paid version was just quiet reading talk and deep dives. It was like night and day finally finding people who actually read the books. That focus is worth a few bucks a month for sure.

inGot a call for a 1987 Maytag washer that had been sitting in a garage for 15 years, and it was the best day I've had all year.
Sounds like a pretty sad year to me. That's a lot of wasted time on an old machine that probably should have been replaced. Modern machines are way more efficient and actually save you money in the long run.

inPSA: I used to think a handsaw was fine for big limb removal
Yeah @sanchez.pat has a point about feeling the wood. I've noticed on dead ash or elm, a handsaw gives you way more warning if the fibers are gonna snap or twist weird. A chainsaw just powers through and you can get surprised by the split.

inPSA: I put a new type of grease on a door operator and it totally backfired
I get why you'd ask about cleaning it first, but that's not the main issue here. The problem is mixing old and new grease types. Some synthetics just don't play nice with the residue of the old lithium stuff, even if you wipe it down. It causes a chemical reaction that turns it to gunk. That's probably what seized up the unit, not just leftover grease. You really need a full solvent clean or you risk this exact thing happening.

inFound an old receipt that made me rethink everything
Was it a gas receipt for me? I had the same kind of shock filling up my truck. I started using one of those free budget apps on my phone right in the parking lot, just putting in what I actually spend on gas and groceries each month. Seeing the number for the whole year instead of just one trip made it real, and I could finally make a plan that worked.
