Update: Painting over graffiti at our block party changed my mind about community stuff
Honestly, I've always thought our neighborhood cleanups were kinda pointless. This year, I decided to help and ended up painting over some graffiti on the old bulletin board. Tbh, while I was brushing on that fresh coat, it clicked for me how each person's small job makes a real difference. Like, my neighbor trimmed the overgrown bushes, some kids swept the sidewalk, and we all just did our bit. Ngl, I used to roll my eyes at this stuff, but seeing everyone work together felt pretty cool. It hit me that a nice street isn't about one big thing, but lots of little efforts adding up. So my epiphany is that showing up, even for a small task, actually helps build a better place to live.
