I was sure the meal prep thing was a total scam until week 3

I always thought those meal prep influencers were just showing off their fridge for likes. But my sister Jill kept pushing me to try it after she lost 12 pounds in a month. I finally gave in and spent a Sunday making 5 lunches for the week. By Wednesday I wasn't scrambling for fast food or spending $10 on a sad sandwich. The real kicker was Friday when I realized I hadn't even thought about takeout all week. Has anyone else had a habit they dismissed for ages that actually surprised them with results?

Dude, hold on a second. I gotta gently push back on one thing you said. Meal prep isn't a "scam" it's just a method some people push way too hard. It's not like a questionable product you buy off Instagram, you know? It's more of a strategy that works for some people and not others. The influencers are definitely annoying, but the basic idea of cooking a few things ahead of time is pretty solid. Your sister lost weight because she cut out the impulsive fast food, not because meal prep itself is some magic secret. So yeah, you kinda fell for the marketing hype before you tried the actual practice.

Ha, okay I gotta push back a little on that. The way I see it, the whole "scam" thing is less about the concept of prepping food and more about the hype around it. People make it sound like this life changing hack that'll solve all your problems, but really it's just a tool. You can still meal prep garbage if you're not careful. I've seen people prep nothing but frozen burritos and pizza rolls, so the magic is in the choices you make, not the containers.

Start by picking just one or two meals to prep, not a whole week's worth of lunches. I made that mistake and wasted a ton of food because I got sick of eating the same thing by day three. Focus on things you already like and that reheat well without getting soggy (think grain bowls or stir fries instead of salads with wet dressing). And here's the real trick: prep ingredients, not full meals. Cook a batch of rice, chop some veggies, grill a few chicken breasts, then mix and match so it doesn't feel like you're eating leftovers every single day.
