The difference 6 months of daily gesture drawing made in my figure art

lol 30 seconds is basically the art equivalent of a panic attack but honestly that's probably what makes it work. my first attempts looked like a spider fell in the ink bottle and had a seizure but a few months in and suddenly my brain just started knowing where the joints bend without me having to think about it. the timer is like a coach yelling at you to stop being precious about every single line. i swear the difference between my early 30 second scribbles and now is night and day, i can actually see where the weight is supposed to be now. it's wild how your hand learns to lie for you when your brain knows you only have 30 seconds before the alarm humiliates you.

Chopped kale or frozen spinach for soup

My aunt swears by frozen spinach for everything and I really gotta disagree on this one. Fresh kale brings a totally different texture to soup, that earthy chewiness that frozen spinach just can't match. Plus I find that frozen spinach turns into this sad, watery mush if you're not careful with it. I get that chopping kale is annoying but I'll take the extra 15 minutes over a bag of soggy greens any day.

Starting a debate: Is programmatic buying killing creative strategy or finally giving it room to breathe?

Wait wait wait... did you just say most of it was always just okay? That hits different because I still remember those big ad moments from back in the day. Like the Super Bowl spots people actually talked about at work the next morning. Not saying every single one was a masterpiece but there was something about sitting through a 30 second story that actually made you feel something. Now it's just data points and retargeting me for shoes I looked at once.

Overheard a customer swear by dark roast only, I'm a light roast guy

That bit about "swear by dark roast only" got me thinking. It's funny how we latch onto these little bits of supposed knowledge and build whole habits around them, isn't it? I see this all the time at the grocery store with organic labels. People will buy the expensive organic produce without a second thought, but nobody really checks if the farm down the road using normal methods is actually better. We just trust the label or the friend who told us something. For what it's worth, I usually go medium roast. Feel like it's a happy middle ground, gives you enough flavor without being bitter or too mild.
