Oh man, @charlier34, you just hit the nail on the head for me too. I had this whole novel draft that I basically hated, so I shoved it in a drawer and didn't look at it for like two years. When I finally opened it back up, there was this throwaway line from a taxi driver character that I barely even wrote, and suddenly I couldn't stop thinking about him. That little nobody turned into the main voice of a short story I sold last spring, and now I have a whole folder on my desktop called "junk drafts" that I dig through whenever I'm stuck. It's wild how your brain keeps working on stuff in the background even when you think you've given up on it.

Figured out the real answer is whoever wins doesn't matter because we all end up eating cold brisket arguing about it. But yeah, my pellet ribs beat a stick burner once, and the guy just said my rub was cheating.
