My niece's questions while I fixed her lights made me rethink my hurry
I was working on my niece's flickering light problem. She stood by and asked about the wires and switches. I usually zip through repairs without a word. But her curiosity made me pause and explain. Now I see that sharing our trade can be as important as the work itself.

Seriously, teaching someone else forces you to double-check your own know-how. I've caught my own mistakes just by trying to explain a simple process out loud. That's how you go from just doing a job to really knowing your stuff.

Did you see that article about how teaching something proves you really know it? I recall hearing that when you explain a process, you have to straighten out your own knowledge first. @bennett.vera made a good point about how explaining aloud can reveal your own errors. Sharing what you do isn't just about the task, it's about making sure the knowledge sticks around. That turn from just fixing things to showing how they work can mean a lot more in the long run.
