That time a $12 order of loaded fries saved my whole afternoon

I was at the weekly market downtown last month, super hungry and kinda hangry, waiting in line for 20 minutes at this taco truck. Right as I get to the front, the guy says they're out of tortillas. My stomach literally growled. I saw another truck, 'Spudnik', across the way and ran over. Spent $12 on their 'cosmonaut fries' which are just fries with cheese, bacon, and green onion. Ate them on a curb and went from ready to fight someone to totally chill in like 5 minutes. It was the best mood swing I've ever bought. Anyone else have a food truck snack that totally turned a bad day around?

I thought the 'breakfast burrito' from the blue truck on 5th was just hype...

My crew kept telling me to try it, but I figured it was just eggs and potatoes. Last Thursday I finally got one, and they put this green chili sauce on it that's made in-house. It completely changed the flavor, made it spicy and rich without being heavy. Has anyone else tried their sauce, or know if they sell it by the jar?

After circling for 20 minutes, I finally just asked the guy at the 'Taco Tornado' truck if I could park in the alley behind his spot, and he said yes, which saved my lunch plans and got me three al pastor tacos for $12.

I went there last Friday after catching buzz about it. The tonkotsu ramen had a rich, creamy broth and really soft pork. The guy running it told me how he makes the broth, which was cool. Felt like a little win to discover something that good.

In my experience, the food didn't live up to the hype. They served it lukewarm, which made the whole meal a letdown. Your mileage may vary, but I was pretty disappointed.

Lots of folks are obsessed with the new fusion trucks in the city center. But I get my favorite meals from a simple truck that parks near my office. The owner remembers I want extra consommé, and I can eat lunch without rushing. It makes my remote work days feel like a real break.

Vent: The guy in front of me at the taco truck had a full-on debate with his dog.

He was asking the dog if it wanted extra guac, and the dog just barked at a pigeon. I couldn't stop laughing long enough to order.

My take on that fancy grilled cheese truck everyone loves

I finally tried 'The Toasty Bun' at the park last weekend, got their mushroom swiss melt. It was okay, but for twelve bucks I expected way more flavor, kinda just tasted like buttered bread. All my friends swear by this place, but I'd take a basic food truck burger any day. Anyone else think some trucks focus too much on being gourmet?
