My starter jar cracked in the middle of the night - woke up to glass and goo all over the counter

Had this big glass jar from a thrift store that I've been using for my sourdough starter for about 4 months. It was working great, nice and bubbly. Then at 3am I heard this shattering sound and found everything spread across the kitchen. The crack must have started from the bottom. I saved about a spoonful of the starter from the corner of the counter that was still clean. Now I'm worried about using a new jar that might do the same thing. Anyone had a jar fail on them like this and found a good replacement that won't break?

Honestly I went to the Habitat ReStore last weekend looking for a cheap door for my workshop. But I spent like 45 minutes just walking around because the place had a whole section of old cedar fence boards for like 50 cents each. Someone had already stacked them by size which was super helpful. I grabbed about 30 boards for maybe 15 bucks total. Gonna use them for some planter boxes and a little bench for the front porch. Bought a $400 forge welding kit that was total junk

I ordered one of those portable forge welding kits from a place called Ironclad Supply (never again) and it fell apart after maybe 10 uses. The regulator was leaking gas by the third week and the burners never got hot enough to weld anything thicker than a nail. Anyone else get burned by cheap farrier gear that just wasted your money?

I'm a concrete contractor and this woman comes into the supply yard holding a torn 60-pound bag that's maybe 40 pounds now.
