Comparison rant: bought a $40 rice cooker vs. my $15 stovetop pot method
Honestly, I thought I was being smart by grabbing a cheap rice cooker from Target for $40 last month. Figured it would make my life easier since I eat rice like five times a week. But after using it for three weeks, I went back to my old $15 pot on the stove. The cooker left the rice either mushy or burnt on the bottom every single time, no matter how I measured the water. Meanwhile, my stovetop method with the exact same jasmine rice gives me fluffy, separate grains in 20 minutes flat. I even tried soaking the rice first and adjusting the settings, still a fail. Has anyone else regretted cheaping out on a kitchen gadget that sounded too convenient?
