A guy at the star party in Flagstaff said my photo of the Orion Nebula looked like a 'cosmic jellyfish' and now I can't unsee it

My buddy once described the Horsehead Nebula as a space snail smoking a pipe. Ruined the whole image for me, I just see a giant gastropod with a briar now. Some comparisons stick in your brain forever. Makes you wonder what the original astronomers were smoking when they named these things.

Had to choose between a 3/8 wall tube or a 1/2 inch for a high-pressure feed line repair. Went with the 3/8 and it's holding, but I'm still second-guessing it.

Hold up, you used a 3/8 TUBE for a high-pressure line? That's wild. Tube is measured by the outside diameter, so the wall is crazy thin. For pressure you almost always want PIPE, which is sized by the inside diameter. The fact it's holding is pure luck, man. You should really swap that out for schedule 80 pipe at the very least. That's a serious safety risk.

Talking to my neighbor about his old barn made me see wood differently

Man that barn story hits hard. So when you're staring at a pile of lumber for a kitchen remodel, how do you even start? Do you pick one board that feels special and build around it, or do you just dive in and let the history show up in the final piece? I'm picturing a modern cabinet with one door made from a beam that has an old bolt hole in it.

Question about fixing a leaky bathroom faucet

Ever feel like the faucet is fighting back harder than you are? That's when I start googling plumber phone numbers.

My uncle swore by using a hair dryer for heat shrink, but it ruined a board for me.

Remember when everyone's dad had that one weird fix for everything? Mine swore by duct tape for any kind of leak, which, you know, never held up. It's like they had a contest to see who could make a small problem way bigger with the wrong tool.
