inUnpopular opinion: nobody in my group chat knows what the CAP theorem actually says, and I proved it last week
Makes sense that two guys dug in even after you showed them the actual talk. People love the sound of a rule more than the rule itself. You see it everywhere, like how everyone says you have to drink 8 glasses of water a day or that we only use 10% of our brains. Somebody says it once, it sounds smart, and then it just gets passed around forever without anyone checking. The "pick two" version is catchy so it sticks, even though it's wrong. Most folks aren't repeating stuff to be jerks, they just never had a reason to look it up until you made them. And by then they'd rather argue than admit they had it wrong the whole time, which is its own thing.

inMy sister's wedding photos from a winery in Napa came out blurry because the photographer shot at f/1.8 in the dark
Did you tell him to stop down or did you just find out after the fact? Fast glass doesn't fix bad light, it just moves the problem around. f/4 and a bounced flash would've killed it.
