My team's break room has a strict 'no phones' rule now and it's causing some real talk
Last week, our principal put up a sign in the staff room that says 'Let's Connect Face to Face, No Phones Please.' It happened right after the bell rang on Tuesday. I get the idea, wanting us to actually chat instead of everyone staring at a screen. But here's the thing, sometimes my break is the only quiet five minutes I have to check if my kid's after-school club got canceled or to just zone out with a dumb game. The other side is, I've already had two good talks with the new science teacher I probably wouldn't have had if we were both on our phones. It feels forced, but maybe it's a good kind of forced?
