Did your buddy happen to mention what you're supposed to do when the notebook gets wet, or you leave it at a hotel, or you die and nobody can get into your accounts? I get why the notebook feels easy, and I'm not going to pretend I never wrote a password on the back of a receipt before. But losing that thing is the real problem, not hackers somehow getting a photo of it. So yes, use a manager for everything, because the whole point is you stop deciding which logins are "important" and just lock them all up behind one good password you actually remember. Start with just your email and bank if the full switch feels like too much, then add the rest as you go.
