Vent: our office moved break time to 2pm and I think it ruined the only good part of my day
Everyone at my job in Columbus thinks the new 2pm break slot is great because it breaks up the long afternoon, but I honestly think it is the worst change we have made in the two years I have worked here. When our break hit at 10:30 in the morning, I would grab my yogurt and walk the loop around the building while the air was still cool and the parking lot was quiet, and I would come back actually ready to work. Now at 2pm the sun is beating down, everyone is dragging, and the break room turns into this weird half asleep zone where nobody talks and three people just scroll on their phones with the lights off. Last Tuesday I sat there for 15 minutes and the only sound was the fridge humming and someone's phone buzzing, and I walked back to my desk feeling more tired than before I left. I get that the morning break made the first half of the day feel choppy, but choppy and awake beats smooth and dead, and I do not think I am the only one who feels this way. Has anyone else had their break time moved and actually liked it better, or is my office just full of people who are too polite to say the 2pm slot stinks?
