My cat brought me 17 socks in one day and I'm not sure if he's proud or asking for help

That orange tabby energy is something else. My old cat used to do the same thing with bottle caps, not socks, but he'd line them all up under the coffee table and then meow at me until I acknowledged his work. Turns out he was just showing off his hunting skills, even if the "prey" was plastic. Slow blinking is a sign of trust and affection in cats, so your guy is probably proud of his sock hoard and wants you to appreciate it. Maybe try giving him a little extra playtime or a puzzle toy to redirect that collecting instinct if it gets out of hand.

I thought dried beans were a waste of time until my gas bill went up $30

Yeah I was the same with rice. Always bought the little boxes of the flavored stuff for like $2 each. Finally grabbed a 10 pound bag of jasmine rice at the Asian market for $8 and it lasted me almost 4 months. I just throw some garlic and onion powder in the pot while it cooks and it tastes way better than the boxed stuff honestly. Makes enough for lunch all week and I'm not spending $60 a month on rice packets anymore.

My impulse buy of a 12 dollar rice cooker changed how I eat all week

Didn't I just see a video where some guy literally made a full lasagna in one of those things? Like he layered the noodles, sauce, and cheese right in the cooker and it came out perfect. I mean, I get that it's not the same as having a stove, but for a single dude or someone living in a dorm, those little machines can do way more than just rice. Maybe it's just me but I'd trust one of those $12 workhorses over a fancy air fryer any day.

I compared two wild honey farming methods side by side for 3 months

Used to swear by Langstroth but this thread has me rethinking. Might have to give the Warre a shot.

That automatic taper I swore I'd never use

Man I never thought about the wrist pain angle but that's a solid point. I remember taping a whole basement in a new build a couple years back and my hand was cramping up something fierce by the end of day two. I bet a lot of guys who swear by hand taping haven't had to do a job that size yet, just small rooms where it doesn't matter. Once you're running through a hotel corridor that goes on forever, that machine pays for itself in comfort alone, not even talking about the finish quality.
