Yeah, we went through that exact thing. Our fix was to start new guys on a buddy system for finish details. They’d do the work, but one of the experienced hands would check it right after, before we called it done. That way they learn by doing, but the final product has a second set of eyes. It slowed things down a bit at first, but the callbacks dropped to almost zero and the new guys got way better, faster.

That bit about small musicians getting hurt is so true. My buddy Jason makes these really chill ambient tracks, and one got picked up by a travel vlog with like 200k subs. They never credited him, so he got zero new listeners from all those eyes. He was pretty bummed about it.

Honestly getting stuck taught you more than just doing the drills ever would.

That pressure to make every page perfect is so real... It's easy to lose the actual purpose of the thing. Going basic just lets the tool work for you instead of against you... My own notebook is a mess of scribbles and it's way more useful that way.
