I rolled a random prompt on my lunch break and accidentally wrote 2,000 words about a bus stop
I grabbed a random prompt generator last Tuesday just to kill 20 minutes at my desk in Portland, and the prompt was just 'the wait', so I started typing about a guy at a bus stop on 82nd and somehow ended up with 2,000 words and a whole new character I actually like, which never happens when I sit down and try to plan something out. What random prompt actually broke your brain open like that?
Somewhere in a drawer I have a napkin from a diner on Stark Street where a two word prompt about a broken clock turned into four pages about a guy who fixes watches and hates his brother. The accidental stuff always comes out better than the planned stuff, which is annoying if you ask me. You sit down to write one thing and your brain secretly had a whole novel waiting in the back room.
