Tape on the seam fixing a 40 lb batch makes you feel like a genius for about five minutes, then you realize the real fix was free. Flipping the guides on an old Hobart is fair game, those things are tougher than they look.

Your cousin saying a lawyer "just takes 25 percent for nothing" is what got him in trouble, honestly. My rep knew which of my records actually mattered and walked me through what the judge would ask before I ever sat down in that room. Going alone might work for a super clean case, but one missing paper can set you back a year or more while you wait on a new hearing date. Your cousin basically paid that same 25 percent in lost time instead of money.

A crane operator in Tulsa showed me how one radio call saved a whole morning

Man, close but that call usually happens way closer than 20 minutes out. Most guys I know radio the gate when they're 5 or 10 minutes away, just enough heads up to get folks moving without the yard sitting open and empty for a half hour. Still a solid habit though, that truck blocking the alley story is exactly how you learn.
