inSaw a stat that made me feel old today
Man, that stat really hit me too. It's wild how the whole rhythm of car ownership has shifted. I see it everywhere now, people holding onto their rides way longer and actually maintaining them instead of just ditching them for a new loan. It feels like we've all just kind of quietly accepted that stuff costs more and nothing is built to be disposable anymore, even if the car itself is solid. Makes you wonder what the average age will be in another ten years, right?

inSpent $180 on a drywall lift and it paid for itself in one day
The trick is you gotta set them up right before you even step on. If you're spending more time falling, your stilts are probably too loose or your straps aren't snug enough.

inFound my old receipts from 2018 and spotted a pricing mistake
You said "Is this really worth worrying about years later?" and honestly that's exactly what I keep circling back to. The thing is, time has a way of making stuff that felt huge back then seem almost silly now, but that doesn't mean it was never important. What you were worrying about years ago was probably a big deal in that moment because you didn't have the 20/20 hindsight you have now. Gotta give yourself some grace for caring about things at the time, even if they don't look so scary from here.

inHad to eat crow about hostels - thought they were just for party kids
Eating crow" about hostels... more like eating budget-friendly ramen with strangers who get it.

inSpent 3 years quenching in dirty water until a cracked blade taught me better
Oh man, this hits way too close to home. I had the exact same problem with my quench oil for like two years. I was using this old motor oil I got from a buddy and just kept adding more when it got low. Never even thought about all the little bits of scale and dust settling in there. Then I did a batch of hunting knives and three out of five warped like bananas. Switched to fresh canola and filtered it through a coffee filter after each use and everything's been solid ever since. It's amazing how much junk we overlook just because it was working good enough.
