Showerthought: I was wrong about using hot glue for headbands

For years I used hot glue to attach headbands in my leather journals, thinking PVA was too slow. Last month, a journal I made in 2020 came back with the headband completely detached and the glue brittle. I switched back to traditional wheat paste and after three projects, the flexibility and hold are clearly better. Am I the only one who learned this the hard way?

Showerthought: my entire design process got wrecked when my fabric dye arrived the wrong shade of 'midnight blue' for my grad collection.

I had to pivot my whole concept in 48 hours, which actually led to a better, more cohesive line built around this weird, muted teal color I had to mix myself.

My bus broke down on the 405 right before the Sepulveda Pass yesterday

It was the 7:15 express, packed as usual, and we just lost all power. The driver tried to restart it three times, but we were stuck in the middle lane. Cars were flying by, and it took the company over 40 minutes to send a replacement bus. I had to call my boss and explain I'd be late because of a 'vehicle failure,' which felt like a lame excuse. Some people got off and tried to walk to the next exit, but that seemed really unsafe. I just stayed put, feeling annoyed and watching my phone battery drop. So, what's the move here? Do you bail and try to find another way, or do you wait it out and hope they fix it fast?

A trick for unsticking old aperture blades seemed too simple to work

I was working on a Pentax Spotmatic with oil on the blades and read about using a tiny drop of lighter fluid on a cotton swab. I was sure it would damage the blades, but after letting it sit for five minutes, they moved freely again. Has anyone else had luck with this method on other models?

Thought the new composite patch kits were just overpriced hype

Our shop got a shipment of those bonded composite repair kits last month. The price tag was steep, like $500 a box. Everyone said they were a gimmick, just fancy glue for managers to show off. I was the loudest about sticking with rivets and sheet metal. Then we had a cracked fairing on a Cessna 172, right on a complex curve. The manual said a metal patch would add too much weight and stress. We tried the kit. The prep took forever, but the bond held a 30 psi pressure test no problem. It was half the weight of a riveted plate. I still like metal, but I can't argue with the manual specs now. Has anyone else been pushed to use these kits on a job that actually made sense?

That week my whole content calendar got wiped by a single software glitch

Last Tuesday, the CreatorSuite app I use for planning just crashed and corrupted my project file, erasing three months of scheduled posts and video ideas. I spent the next two days in a total panic trying to rebuild everything from old notes and memory. Has anyone else had a major scare like this with a planning tool, and what do you use now for a backup?
