I attempted a surprise birthday party for my roommate and the wrong person showed up

I had the whole thing set up in our apartment in Phoenix, but his cousin with the same name walked in first and we all yelled 'surprise' at him. Has anyone else had a plan backfire in a way that made you want to just hide forever?

Honestly, I used to think surprise parties were a great idea. Tbh that changed after I tried to surprise my friend at a restaurant. I got the day right but the time wrong, so the whole staff was staring at me in an empty room. I just wanted to crawl under a table and vanish.
