Showerthought: my entire design process got wrecked when my fabric dye arrived the wrong shade of 'midnight blue' for my grad collection.
I had to pivot my whole concept in 48 hours, which actually led to a better, more cohesive line built around this weird, muted teal color I had to mix myself.

My friend Jake had a similar meltdown last year. His entire senior thesis sculpture was built around this specific type of reclaimed barn wood. The supplier sent pine instead, a totally wrong color and grain. He had two days before his final critique and just started burning the new wood with a torch in pure frustration. That charred texture became the whole point of the piece, and it got him his first gallery show. Sometimes the wrong material shows you the right direction.

Damn, that's awesome. Happy accidents rule.

Totally, it's like the mistake forces you to stop overthinking. You get so mad you just start doing stuff without a plan, and that's when the real work happens. My painting teacher used to say the best art comes from fixing a problem you didn't mean to make. That burnt wood story is perfect proof. Makes you wonder how many great ideas we miss because everything goes right the first time.
