inThat Chamber mixer last Thursday left me questioning if anyone actually listens during the speed networking rounds...
Oh man, you hit on something real here. It's like everyone's got a script they're reading from but nobody's listening to anyone else's. I see the same thing at my local coffee shop when people stand in line on their phones the whole time, order without even looking up, then get surprised when the barista gets their order wrong. Or at the grocery store when someone blocks the whole aisle because they're too busy chatting on speakerphone to notice the world around them. We're all just going through the motions, handing out business cards and eating free food, but nobody's actually connecting. You could have told that guy you were a part-time astronaut and he'd still have tried to sell you dog shampoo.

inTook a hammock instead of a tent on the Appalachian Trail last month...
That's a hammock problem more than a popularity problem. You gotta practice hanging it a few times at home before you trust it on the trail.

inMy Bluetooth earbuds died mid-call on the 405 and I almost lost it
Hold the phone up to your mouth and yell into it like you're hailing a rescue boat on a desert island. @hayes.joel probably knows the struggle too, but here's something nobody talks about - all that arm fatigue from holding it up actually makes you miss exits. I've driven past my turn twice because my arm got tired holding the phone by my ear. Plus, people in other cars think you're either taking a selfie or having a breakdown when they see you with a phone pressed against your cheek like it's 2003. The real trick I learned is to just pull over for two minutes, plug in the charging cord, and let the buds soak up some juice. It takes less time than the whole caveman routine and you keep both hands free.

inThat week my van broke down and I still finished 14 calls somehow
Isn't it funny how the days that fall apart often end up being the most memorable?

@felix_hayes64 nailed it, my old Craftsman just laughed at me for three days straight.
