Pen and paper doodles to tablet, my left hand still hates me

I switched to a drawing tablet back in March after 10 years of only sketching in cheap spiral notebooks, and my tablet hand cramps up after like 20 minutes every single time. Has anyone else had this issue where your grip just locks up on a smooth surface, or am I the only one who held their pencil like a caveman?

Was it the same grip you used on paper, or did you find yourself holding the pen tighter without noticing? Because that smooth surface changes everything, your hand naturally grabs harder to find friction that just isnt there. Ten years of muscle memory doesnt just switch over in a few months, that grip is baked in. Did you try those textured tablet covers or a glove, or are you raw dogging the glass? I had to retrain my whole hand position, not just the pressure, before the cramps finally backed off.
