That moment in gridlock where I actually paid attention to a podcast

Stuck on I-35 near Austin last Thursday for 45 minutes and normally I'd just zone out, but this one podcast episode mentioned how the city's adding 3 new toll lanes by 2027. Got me thinking about how much time I waste sitting still and whether that project will even help or just shift the bottleneck further south. Anyone else hear something random during a commute that changed how you see the whole route?

And here's the thing @the_mary, nobody's talking about how toll lanes actually mess up traffic in the long run. They pull the richer drivers out of the regular lanes, sure, but then the people who can't afford the tolls get stuck in even worse jams. That creates this weird two-tier system where the free lanes just keep getting more packed. Plus all that stopping and merging when people hit the toll gantries causes its own backup. It's like putting a bandaid on a broken leg.
