TIL paying off my smallest card first actually worked

I mean the "seeing that zero balance gave me more motivation" part is the thing that people don't talk about enough. It's not just about the math of which debt costs more interest, it's about how your brain actually works day to day. Like the spreadsheet says one thing but your emotions say another and if you're going to stick with this for months or years the emotional side matters way more than people admit. I've seen friends crash and burn on the avalanche method because they got bored and frustrated after six months. Maybe it's just me but I think a lot of the personal finance advice misses this human element entirely.

I finally stopped using a pencil for my rough sketches and swapped to a cheap ballpoint pen

Wait, is that right? I don't think I ever was all that into pencil, honestly. I mean, I respect the craft and all, but I've always been more of a pen guy myself.

Shoutout to the guy at my local shop who pointed me to a forgotten run

Oh man, that's exactly how I found out about Eighth Doctor comics. Some random guy at a con just shoved a stack of them in my hands and said "trust me, the time war stuff is wild." Best impulse read of my life, wouldn't have touched them otherwise. Those offhand tips from strangers who just get it are worth more than any curated list online.

Book club debate got personal last night over a character's choice

Jumped right into it last night at my own book club over The Great Gatsby and man did it get ugly. One lady started crying about her ex-husband because Gatsby reminded her of how he always promised her things he could never deliver. Another guy started arguing about how Nick was actually the selfish one for not stopping Gatsby from taking the fall for Daisy, and then he admitted he let his brother get blamed for something back in high school. I just sat there thinking about how I once told my friend his new haircut was fine when it was clearly a disaster, and suddenly I was defending fictional characters like they were my own family. Book clubs are just therapy sessions with snacks I guess, nobody actually wants to talk about the book.

Got stuck behind a guy who thought his turn signal was optional for 7 miles on Highway 99

Just hang way back and let them disappear, less stress and you get where you're going the same time either way.
