My cheap tarp saved my tent from a river of mud last weekend

Happened to me too but with a blue tarp from Walmart during a sudden downpour in the Smokies. I just tied it between two trees and let it sag over my tent, worked perfect all night. Folks laugh at the janky setups but when your dry socks stay dry you're the real winner. That $8 tarp has saved so many trips I now just keep one rolled up in my car at all times. Ugly fixes beat fancy gear that fails every time.

My cat brought me 17 socks in one day and I'm not sure if he's proud or asking for help

That orange tabby thing is no joke. My buddy's cat, a big chonky orange dude named Cheeto, used to steal my shoelaces right out of my boots while I was still putting them on. Hed drag them into the middle of the kitchen floor and just stare at me until I clapped. We started calling him the Sock Goblin. But you know what? That slow blink thing is real. Every time I was annoyed hed do that slow blink and Id forget why I was mad. It's like they know theyre being a little jerk but theyre too cute to stay mad at. Maybe try tossing a crumpled up receipt or a milk ring for him to fetch. That worked for Cheeto.

Debate: Is hand-sewing headbands worth the extra time or just old-school flexing?

Guess I'll just have to hand-sew my way into the afterlife then.

My "deep POV" attempt at a writing prompt fell flat on its face last night

Haha you're not far off honestly. The empty picture frames thing was more about how the house looked staged for sale but nobody actually LIVED there yet. Like the frames were hung up but with no photos in them so the whole place felt hollow. It accidentally nailed the vibe I was going for, but for all the wrong reasons at first.

Came across a stat about brisket stall temps that surprised me

Wait, you mean I shouldn't treat a self-help book like a holy text and build my whole life around it?
