inMy neighbor's advice to use drywall screws for deck boards cost me 6 weekends
Gotta push back a little here @wendyk56. Even if the wood was wet or predrilling was skipped, drywall screws just don't have the shear strength for deck boards. They're made to bite into drywall, not handle people walking on them and weather changing. 12 boards in 8 months is a lot, but that's exactly what happens when you use hardware that's too weak. Cheaper gauge or not, the shank of a drywall screw is brittle and snaps under lateral pressure. Grant's point about them sheering off is real, I've seen it happen too. It's not about the screws being flimsy in general, it's about using the wrong tool for the job.

inRaised beds vs. ground planting on my clay soil
Wait @blair597 you actually waited this long to try raised beds? I cant believe you suffered through ground planting for so many seasons. I switched to raised beds like 3 years ago and my back still thanks me every spring. My zucchini actually tripled in size once I got the soil mix right in those things.

inSat in 45 minutes of gridlock on I-35 in Austin last Tuesday just to watch someone cut across 4 lanes of traffic for the exit they almost missed.
My buddy Dave sat through that same mess last week watching a guy in a white Altima cut from the left lane clear across to the 35th Street exit. He said traffic just froze solid for a solid two minutes while everyone slammed their brakes. By the time Dave finally got past that spot, the guy was long gone and nobody saw a single cop the whole way.

inVisited an old bakery in Pittsburgh that still uses a wood-fired oven from the 1940s
Never thought about the thermal mass angle, that actually makes more sense than the smoke myth.

inI fell for a $30 'AI-powered' resume builder that did nothing useful
Yeah my buddy tried one and it basically just turned his 2 page resume into 3 pages of nonsense like "leveraged cross-platform synergy" for his time as a cashier at a grocery store. I think the only thing those AI builders are good at is making you feel like you did something productive without actually helping. I'd honestly get more value from asking a friend to look at your resume over a beer than feeding it to a bot.
