My kid's school fundraiser page got weird and it made me check my home network

Last month, my daughter's class had a cookie dough sale online. I clicked the link from the teacher's email and the page loaded with a bunch of weird pop-up ads for adult stuff. It was a total shock. I checked the URL and it was a .biz site that looked a bit off, not the usual .org the school uses. I called the teacher and she had no idea, the link was from a parent volunteer. It hit me that I just click links without thinking. That night, I went into my router settings for the first time ever. I turned on the guest network for visitors and smart home stuff, and put our phones and laptops on the main one. It took maybe 20 minutes. Has anyone else set up a guest network after a close call like that?

My buddy had his smart TV start showing strange search suggestions for car parts. He traced it back to his neighbor asking to use the Wi-Fi once. He set up a guest network right after that, and it stopped the weird stuff completely.

My cousin's guest network stopped her roommate's weird late-night pizza ads.

That .biz site is a real wake-up call for clicking links... glad you got the guest network sorted.
