Showerthought: Reusing old pipe sections saved us from tossing tons of steel.
I recently started collecting scrap pipe from past projects for reuse in small patches. This simple change has cut down our material waste a lot, and it feels good to be less wasteful. What are some other easy sustainability tricks you've picked up on site?

Add up the energy used to recycle old pipe.

Tara_smith82 is right, check the pipe's condition first.

Yeah but "cut down our material waste" isn't always the full story... Sometimes reusing an old, less efficient piece just kicks the can down the road. I've seen old pipe sections patched in that leak more heat or need way more insulation wrap than new stuff would. That extra energy loss over years feels like it could cancel out the good from not throwing it away. Feels like we gotta look at the whole life of the thing, not just keeping it out of the dump today.
