My buddy said I should sleeve my cards before a game night crash - he was right about that $20 deck
A few weeks ago my friend Dave told me to spend $8 on sleeves for my copy of Gloomhaven. I thought he was being extra. Then someone spilled a soda right on the table during a big scenario. The sleeves got sticky but the cards underneath were fine. Now I sleeve everything over $30. Has anyone else had a close call like that?

Took you long enough to learn the sleeve lesson. I bought a copy of Race for the Galaxy off someone for $15 a few years ago and the cards were so beat up they stuck together. Made me realize how fast card games turn into trash without protection. Now I sleeve everything over $25 just like you because it's cheap insurance. The shuffle feel is the real benefit. You end up shuffling better because the sleeves slide instead of the cards getting bent and warped. Even my $10 games get sleeves now because once you get used to the smooth shuffle you can't go back to raw cardboard.

Man that's wild lol. I had a similar thing happen with my Dominion collection a couple years back. Friend's kid knocked over a glass of juice right onto the box while we were setting up. I thought the whole thing was ruined but the sleeves saved the day. Now I'm one of those guys that sleeves everything even my cheap party games. It's like five bucks for 100 sleeves and that's way cheaper than replacing a whole game. Plus they shuffle so much smoother too which is a nice bonus.

Honestly I used to think sleeves were such a waste of money. I was the guy who would just throw cards in the box raw and call it good enough. But after my cat knocked over a drink onto my copy of Coup last summer I had to throw the whole game away. That was like a $15 lesson I should have learned way sooner. Tbh now I sleeve everything too even stuff like Love Letter or The Crew. The cost is nothing compared to the hassle of trying to find a replacement copy.
