Finally got my copy of Brass: Birmingham to the table after a full year of trying to coordinate schedules with my group.
It took us three hours to finish the first game, but seeing everyone's different strategies click into place by the third round was totally worth the wait, so what's the longest you've waited to play a specific game you were really excited about?

My group finally played Twilight Imperium after a two-year wait, and that first epic session made it all worthwhile.

Remember that feeling when you finally get to play? My white whale was Scythe, sat on my shelf for like 18 months before we could get a full group together. It's funny how the wait can actually make the first game better, you've built it up so much in your head. @nancythomas waiting two years for Twilight Imperium is next level, that must have been a huge relief to finally start. Honestly, sometimes I think the scheduling is the real final boss of the hobby.

Wait, you guys are actually okay with waiting that long? I had a copy of Root gathering dust for over a year because my group could not get it together. By the time we played, I was just annoyed and the rules felt like a chore. Doesn't the hype just die and turn into resentment? I feel like a game sitting that long loses its magic, you forget why you were excited. The scheduling boss is real, but losing that new game feeling is a total loss for me.
