Just dropped $120 on a fancy heated seat cover for my truck and it's the best purchase I've ever made, even if my dog now refuses to get out of the passenger seat.

I finally caved and got the 'Road King Deluxe' model after a particularly cold overnight in Fargo, and now my 14-hour drives feel like I'm in a warm hug, though I have to bribe my co-pilot with treats to make a pit stop.

Tbh the dog melting a seat cover is a new one. Was it just from the heat of the dog itself, or did the cover actually short out from the weight or something? Honestly I'd be worried about the wiring holding up if a big dog is always on it.

That's the kind of luxury upgrade that pays for itself by February... totally get it. My old beater's seats feel like sitting on a block of ice without something like that. The dog claiming it as their throne is just the final seal of approval, really. Sounds like you've cracked the code for winter driving.
