Just realized I was falling for the same filler episode patterns for years
I was rewatching an old shonen series last weekend and it hit me that every time the pacing gets sluggish, it's always the same setup: characters standing around explaining their backstory mid-battle. I counted three episodes in a row where nothing actually moved forward, just flashbacks and crying. Learned that skipping whole chunks doesn't ruin the plot at all, it actually makes the story tighter. Now I just check episode discussions online first to see which ones are actually important. Saves me like 5 hours per arc and I don't miss anything critical. Has anyone else figured out a trick for spotting these padding episodes faster without reading full guides?

Man that's a solid trick, saves a ton of time.

Admitted I wasn't sold on it at first but trying it once totally changed my mind. Now I do it every time, it's way faster than how I used to do things.
