Ran into an old electrician at a supply house and he saved me $150

Hold on wait @rileyb61 you're telling me a stranger at the lumber yard just handed out gold like that for free?

Serious question, is it ever okay to park over the line in a near-empty lot?

And yeah, I've seen this play out in hospital parking lots at 3 AM when there's maybe 8 cars total. Someone still ends up parked next to the two-space guy just because that's how people work. The practical rule is if you wouldn't do it in a half-full lot, don't do it in an empty one either, because someone always pulls in five minutes later.

Grabbed a random writing prompt instead of my usual fantasy trope

Honestly ran a random haunted house prompt once and wrote a whole thing about a grumpy ghost who just wanted his mail forwarded.

That clamp trick for pressing books I learned from a woodworker

@seth_harris36 nailed it with the guitar clamping example... that's something I've run into myself with cabinet building. Instead of one big clamp I'll use three smaller ones, one in the middle and one near each end, and the joint comes out perfect every time. Shelf hanging too... a buddy of mine put one fat screw in the middle of a heavy shelf and it cracked right down the center after a few months. Spreading out the force just makes everything hold up longer. It's one of those little tricks that saves you a headache later.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think buying in bulk saves as much as people claim

Wait, you're telling me you don't intentionally age your rice for that extra earthy flavor? @amy_coleman21 sounds like she had a rare heirloom variety growing legs, that's just natural fermentation.
