Showerthought: the new co-working space in Austin feels like a trap for freelancers
I checked out that big new co-working spot downtown last Thursday, the one with the free coffee and ping pong. The vibe was cool, but the day pass was $45 and the monthly rate started at $350. I talked to a guy there who said he signed up for a year and now he's stuck paying for a desk he never uses because his main client cut their budget. It seems like a nice idea but could really lock you into a big cost. How do you guys decide if a shared office is worth it?

Honestly, it's just paying for motivation.

Yeah, paying for motivation is so real. I've totally done that just to get myself to actually go.

Sounds like a fancy gym membership for your laptop, lmao. Paying to feel productive while you just drink their coffee and avoid your couch.
