Last month I found a live mouse napping inside the sand mold we were about to pour
The pour was scheduled for 2pm and at 1:45 I spotted a little guy curled up right in the cavity, must have liked the warmth. Has anyone else found weird stuff in their molds before you could get the metal in there?

Man that's nothing, last spring I found a half eaten sandwich and a sock crammed into one of our cope flasks. No idea how a sock got in there but we pulled it out and just ran the mold anyway. Stuff happens all the time in this line of work.

Huh, that's kind of a funny story but I'm not sure it's that big of a deal. You found a mouse, so what? It's not like you poured the metal on top of it. You caught it before anything happened. I've heard way worse stories about foundry guys finding dead birds or rats in casting sand, and they just scoop them out and move on. It's not the end of the world, just a minor delay.

Dude, I knew a guy who found a whole family of raccoons in a sand hopper once, nightmare to get them out.
