I used a receipt as a bookmark and now my book smells like garlic
In my experience, using a grocery receipt was a bad idea. Your mileage may vary, but now my copy of 'Pride and Prejudice' has a permanent onion scent.

Actually, that garlic smell adds some charm. A receipt bookmark gives a book character (like a time capsule for your groceries). My copy of Moby Dick smells like coffee from a diner receipt, which fits the sea adventure somehow. It's a free way to mark your page and remember little moments. Who needs fancy bookmarks when a receipt tells its own story?

A receipt telling its own story? That's a bit much for a bookmark.

So you're saying a garlic smell from a grocery receipt adds charm? What about when the ink fades and you can't read what you bought? I used a movie ticket stub in a book, and now it's just a faded paper. Does that still tell a story if the details are gone? Or is the story just in our heads when we remember?
