TIL a trick for beating the lunch rush at the downtown construction site trucks

I was at the 5th and Main site last Tuesday around 11:30 and the line for the 'Big Mike's BBQ' rig was already 15 people deep. The guy in front of me said he always calls his order in to their number on the side 20 minutes before he gets there, and they had it ready at a separate window. Has anyone else found a food truck that takes pre-orders like that?

Yeah, the taco truck on 3rd started doing that last summer. I got tired of waiting in the sun for 20 minutes just for three carnitas tacos. Now I text the order to the number on their Instagram, give them a 15 minute heads up, and just walk up to the window. They have it bagged and ready to go. Saves my whole lunch break.

Oh man, that's the move right there. It's like the whole world is finally catching up to this idea of skipping the line. I see it everywhere now, @logan236. My barber lets me text him when I'm five minutes out so he's ready with the clippers. Even the car wash has an app to get in the queue before you leave the house. We're all just quietly finding these little life hacks to buy back our own time, one taco order at a time.

Man, that's just smart lunch strategy. I'm still out here waiting like a chump while these guys are basically using a fast pass for tacos. Gotta get with the times.
