Yeah, that bit about the wait killing the excitement is spot on. I see this all the time with stuff like pre-ordering games or even planning vacations. The buildup is huge, but by the time it happens, the magic is kinda gone.

Ugh, that wait is the actual worst. I don't think you moved on because of a new trend... the long wait just kills all the excitement you had for the original idea. By the time it shows up, the thrill is totally gone and it just feels like a letdown. Happens to me every single time with pre orders.
