I bought a $150 roll of 'innovative' fabric that just fell apart
I was excited by a new metallic-bonded knit for a structured dress, but it started to separate at the seams after one gentle hand wash. The material cost me over a hundred dollars and the project time is completely lost. Has anyone else had a fabric fail with these new bonded textiles?

My friend had that happen with a bonded velvet last year. These new fabrics can be a total scam. Sorry about your dress.

Actually bonded velvet can be great if you get it from a good supplier. My winter coat is made from it and has held up through two seasons of heavy wear. The cheap stuff falls apart, but quality bonded fabric shouldn't peel or tear. It's all about the materials and how it's made.

Ever see that happen with a jacket? My buddy got a bonded velvet one and it just... came apart at the seams after a few months. Makes me think @dakota_patel98 is onto something about the cheap stuff.
