My grandma's chili recipe has a secret ingredient debate

Honestly that sounds like a bad idea, chocolate and chili can work but peanut butter cups are a step too far. You'd just get a weird sweet mess with chunks of candy in it. Stick to dark chocolate and actual spices if you want to try that combo.

I bought a $150 roll of 'innovative' fabric that just fell apart

Actually bonded velvet can be great if you get it from a good supplier. My winter coat is made from it and has held up through two seasons of heavy wear. The cheap stuff falls apart, but quality bonded fabric shouldn't peel or tear. It's all about the materials and how it's made.

I paid $80 for a 'security audit' that was just a guy running a free scanner

That "full check" promise sounds so familiar... my brother-in-law got talked into something similar last year. The guy spent most of the time asking him what kind of router he had, then just read the info off the back of it. It felt like paying for someone to google things for you.

I used to think the old school timing light was fine, but a scope changed my mind

But is a scope really needed for most jobs? Seems like a lot of money for a ghost hunt.

My neighbor said my deck stain job was a waste of time.

Watched my neighbor use a solid stain on his fence here in Georgia, and it held up for about four years before it really started to look tired. He power washed the wood first and did two thin coats, which I think helped a lot. It definitely fades, but it didn't peel or crack like some of the clear stuff I've seen.
