Had a sample dress unravel in front of a buyer at the Atlanta Mart last spring

I was showing off this linen shift dress I'd been working on for weeks. The buyer from a small boutique reached out to touch the fabric and the whole side seam just let go right in her hand. She just looked at me and said 'I need things that hold up better than that.' I ended up offering her a rush redo with double-stitched seams and a different thread. Has anyone else had a garment fail during a sales pitch and managed to turn it around?

Call me crazy but I actually think that dress failing on you was kind of a blessing in disguise. If that seam was gonna blow out, way better it happens in a showroom than in a customer's closet six months later.

Ngl, @averymartin, that's a fair point, but I've had a similar thing happen with a jacket zipper and it saved me from a much bigger headache later. Honestly, catching a flaw in the showroom is way better than dealing with an angry customer down the line.

A whole seam blowing out in front of someone is a pretty specific disaster though.
