From my sketchbook: I think asymmetry in dresses is a lazy design trick.

It just covers up when a designer can't make a balanced piece work. I've tried it myself, and it feels like a cheat instead of a real solution.

The "lazy design trick" line reminds me of my friend who used uneven layouts in art class as a shortcut. It always felt like he was avoiding the hard parts, you know?

But is it really avoiding the hard part? I mean, sometimes an uneven layout just works better for what you're trying to do. Maybe your friend found a style that fit his idea, even if it looked like a shortcut. Idk, feels like we call stuff lazy just because it seems easier.

And it happens everywhere, right? Like calling a simple solution lazy at work when it just gets the job done faster. We see someone not following the expected steps and assume they're cutting corners, not that they found a better way. I've seen people get judged for using templates or basic tools because it looks too easy. Sometimes the hard part isn't the busywork, it's knowing what you can skip.
