Had a plumber in Portland tell me to stop using those blue drain cleaners
He showed me a corroded pipe he pulled out of a 1950s house and said those chemicals just eat away at older metal over time. Has anyone else switched to just using a snake every few months instead?

Wait a plumber actually showed you a corroded pipe that he said was from using those blue drain cleaners? That's wild. I mean I always kinda figured those bottles had some harsh stuff in them but seeing is believing with that kind of thing. Idk how I missed that for so long. I've been using that blue gel stuff every few months when my bathroom sink gets slow. Now I'm kind of freaked out about what I've been doing to my own pipes. Maybe it's just me but I always thought it was better than calling someone out for a snake. Gonna have to try just using a snake like you said.
