A wax pot failure in the middle of a busy Saturday at my old salon in Tempe
The thermostat on my trusty old hard wax pot gave out, turning a smooth honey wax into a bubbling mess right before a full leg appointment. I had to quickly switch to soft wax with strips, which I hadn't used in years, and explain the whole situation to a very patient client. Anyone have a good method for testing a wax pot's true temperature without relying on the built-in dial?

Ugh, that's the worst! I always just trusted the dial too, but a bad burn taught me a lesson. Now I test a drop on my inner wrist before it touches a client.

That "bubbling mess" sounds like a total nightmare. I'd be so stressed trying to switch methods mid-day. Bennett's wrist test is a solid backup plan for sure.

Oh man, switching methods under pressure is the absolute worst. It makes you second guess everything you're doing. That wrist test is a total lifesaver because it's so simple, you can't really mess it up. It's way better than just hoping your gear is reading things right.
