I used to think fixing old tube TVs was a waste of time
Last year, a guy brought in a 1972 Zenith from his garage, covered in dust. I almost told him to junk it. Instead, I spent a weekend on it, mostly just cleaning and replacing a few caps. When I powered it on and that old picture tube lit up, his face was pure joy. He said it was the first TV his family ever owned. Now I look for those jobs. They're not about the money, they're about saving a piece of history. Anyone else get a kick out of bringing truly old electronics back from the dead?

Totally get that feeling. I fixed an old radio for my neighbor and the sound of that first crackle was just MAGIC. It's about the story, not the thing.

Oh man, that hits home. I once spent three whole days trying to fix a busted VCR just to hear that whirring sound again. My partner walked in and asked if I was building a time machine. But seeing that old tech work, it's like you brought a memory back to life. That's way cooler than just fixing something new.

My buddy spent a weekend fixing his dad's old film projector. The smell of the hot bulb and that clacking sound when it finally worked made him tear up. It's exactly what @mila_brown10 said, that first bit of life from old tech is pure magic. Makes you wonder what other forgotten gadgets are waiting for that moment, right?
